Our History

October 2013

The Rotary Club of Stratford convened a public meeting that struck a steering committee to determine the feasibility of creating a residential hospice for Perth County.

November 2014

The steering committee submitted a proposal for a ten bed residential hospice to the South West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

November 2015

As Perth County is part of the sub LHIN area of Huron Perth, the LHIN ultimately required a joint Residential Hospice proposal for the counties of Huron and Perth.

March 2016

The LHIN stuck a hospice sub-committee to develop a joint unified Huron Perth solution resulting in the hiring of consultant Lough Barnes.

August 2016

Tri County Mennonite Homes generously leases, for $1 a year, the land for the new residential hospice at their Greenwood Court location at 90 Greenwood Drive in Stratford.

February 2017

The LHIN board approved Lough Barnes’ Business Plan and authorized operational funding for both an 8-bed hospice in Stratford and a 4-bed hospice in Central Huron.

June 2018

Architects ROA Studio provided the building design for General Contractor Agri-Urban Buildings Incorporated (AUBI) who commenced construction.

Spring 2019

The residential hospice will begin operation and provide care for its first residents.
